About the Artist

  • Linda Mears is a life-long painter. Born in 1949, and raised in Southern California semi-rural settings, with farms,
  • ranches, beaches, mountains nearby. Summers were spent touring the picturesque United States. She began
  • artistically representing her experiences at a very early age. Winning art contests in school, painting for family,
  • friends and local galleries. Her Pennsylvania Dutch roots and travels in Europe also inspired her creative ability.

  • When attending college and attempting art classes there Linda immediately dropped out, rejecting their trying to
  • mold and change her personal style. Therefore, Linda is technically a self-taught artist and prides herself on her
  • advice to those aspiring in the field; "You can't teach someone how to be an artist. Each person is already an artist
  • in his own right evident in his individual expression and creation of his own life. This just needs to be brought out."

  • In 1987, while working as a nurse she was discovered by Jay Johnson Gallery, on the upper east side of Madison
  • Avenue in New York City, New York and quickly became one of their top selling artists. Linda's paintings continue
  • to be found in prestigious private collections, galleries, museums, and on various gift and other products worldwide.

  • Painting in her unique style of contemporary, abstract, and folk art Linda is a prolific painter known for her force of
  • execution, deftness of communication, strength of composition, and great attention to detail. The combination of her
  • sensitivity along with her technical versatility becomes the vehicle that allows her to express and to invite you to
  • participate in her wonder and fascination of what is hidden within each moment of life. In her words; "I have found
  • incredible joy in sharing my artistic visions with others. Throughout my life I have drawn inspirations from everything
  • and everyone around me. Adding my imagination I bring my creations to life on canvas. My goal is to reveal to my
  • collectors and viewers just how beautiful life is. I hope to influence a re-birth of a new renaissance here on Earth."
